Here's how the Bible explains what God did for you

The Bible says that everyone has done wrong things.
  • For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. (Romans 3:23)

Because of those wrong things, we deserve to be punished.
  • For the wages of sin is death. (Romans 6:23)

HOWEVER! God loves us so much, he took away that punishment by sending Jesus to take that punishment for us.
  • But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. (Romans 5:8)
  • For God so loved the world, that he gave his only son, that whoever believes in him, would not perish, but have everlasting life. For God did not send his son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world should be saved though him. (John 3:16-17)

Jesus lived a sinless life, taught about God, then died on a cross to take the punishment for our sin. He was buried in a tomb, but came back to life again. Christmas celebrates His birth, and Easter celebrates his death and resurrection.

The key is belief in what Jesus has done.
  • If you declare with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. (Romans 10:9)
The decision is up to you.
  • [Jesus] was in the world, and though the world was made through him, the world did not recognize him. He came to [the Jewish people], but his own did not receive him. Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God--children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband’s will, but born of God. (John 1:10-12)

This is being born again. It's life changing.

God calls all the wrong we have done (big and small) sin. That gets in the way of knowing him.

Jesus' death on the cross paid the price for the punishment for our sin. He died between two thieves. One believed. One did not. The choice they had is the same one you have.

In Christ, we have a clean slate. His death provides forgiveness for all the wrong we have done.

BELIEVE IT OR NOT?

God has no grandchildren. He only has children. You can't get to God through your mother's faith or your grandmother's prayers. It's a decision you must make for yourself.

God loves you, and wants to be part of your life. No matter where you've been. No matter what you've done. He wants to welcome you home.

How can I believe?

It's pretty simple. Just like the ABCs.
A
Admit  you've done wrong things.
(We all have)
B
Believe that Jesus died for you.
(He died for the whole world, and that includes you.)
C
Call to Jesus.
(Calling to him is praying. Praying is talking to God.)

I don't know how to pray.

That's ok. Prayer is just talking with God. There's no formula. You can say something like,

Dear God, I know I've done wrong things. I'm sorry for that. I believe that you died to take the punishment for those wrong things. Thank you for loving me so much. I want to follow you and live with you forever.  Amen.
If you've made that decision, we want to rejoice with you too. Contact us and tell us about it, or join us this Sunday for worship and let us know.

Know what's amazing?

The Bible says that all the angels rejoice when someone new believes in Him.
Jesus said, "I tell you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents."
  -Luke 15:10
